  • UST-24-50 Hull repair

Another hull repair blog. This weasel is owned by my offsider Steve and I offered to do an 'Econo' repair job on the hull for him. By 'Econo' I mean that there was no spot welding of panels (just plug welding) and I did not replace entire panels/sheet metal. In the end I was more than happy with the end result. I will start with the before photos.

First job to do was to lay the hull on its side and remove all of the corroded lower hull sheet metal

At some time in the past both the sponsons and hull sides had been overlaid with a double skin of sheet metal. Water had got between these layers of sheet metal and caused a good deal of corrosion. Time to remove the extra sheet metal.
